March 19th 2017. Great meeting! Thank you all for coming! Several newcomers arrived for the second part of the forest class, which had been scheduled to be presented in April. The April meeting was announced for March and so I was a bit unprepared for another forest class, but did went over the material. The information is free.
The March Weyerhaeuser sale was on the Saturday before the monthly meeting, but - wow, the plugs are very nice this year! The list at the door was not the same as the one published online, as the list changes due to availability.
Next meeting: April 16th, 2017
Interest in building or maintaining a forest bonsai was huge at the March meeting, and although people did not bring their trees to work with, concepts, traditional rules and examples were covered. Trees had not been brought for building, so going over making the plan (part 1, February) was covered again.
Our next meeting falss on Easter Sunday April 16, we will continue with our general whack and chat, and by popular demand, will continue with more bonsai forest theme, and start to cover saikei, the mini landscapes. Saikei can be a single trees or forests.
Bring your own supplies, and if you don't know what those are, come by and we can go over what you will need.
Next Weyerhaeuser public tree sale!!! February 10, 2018.
Buy young trees in less-than-lot numbers. These seedlings and young trees and shrubs, usually sold in large bag lots of 100 to 50,000 trees, are available for the public to purchase as little as one tree, or more,
a few times a year. Some trees are in 1 and 2 gallon pots, older than seedlings.
Weyerhaeuser Aurora, 8AM-12PM check their website for more information, and view the public sale tree list and worksheet for next year, as it comes available. The 2017 tree list is now over.
